Wonderful Madras Checks woven cotton fabric with a multicoloured tartan design in colours including red, yellow, purple, green and blue by Mutsaers Textiles. It's a yarn-dyed cotton fabric so the pattern is the same on either side of the fabric. A brilliant, very striking fabric!      

It is a traditional woven fabric so it doesn't have a massive amount of drape (though it's a fabric that's built to last, so it could end up have lots of drape in time!), so in dressmaking terms it's perfect for things like shift dresses, tunics, shirts, dungarees and trousers. It's also great for all kinds of crafts such as cushion covers, tablecloths, napkins, bagmaking and aprons etc.     

Composition: 100% cotton 

Care: Machine wash at 30 degrees. Cool iron. Do not tumble dry. Can be dry cleaned.

Weight: 135 g/m2

As ever, it's always best to wash any fabric, regardless of composition or type, before sewing to account for any shrinkage.
